Farewell Dixie Evans

The burlesque world has suffered a great loss on Saturday with the passing of legend Dixie Evans, the "Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque".  She was 86.

Not only did she have a career that spanned many decades, she was a key figure in preserving the art form's history.  She carried on her friend Jennie Lee's dream of having a museum of memorabilia from dancers, a museum known today as the Burlesque Hall of Fame.  She also founded the Miss Exotic World pageant, which brings together talent from all over the world to the Hall of Fame (during a weekend that also celebrates the legends).  Without her, burlesque past and present would not have been the same.  We will miss you, Dixie Evans.
